Today Blackmagic Design announced the release of a new camera. The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 is essentially the same camera as the 6K Pro, minus the internal ND filters. It replaces the previous 6K model and still comes in at the same $1,995 USD price.
The new camera notably gains the following features over the previous model:
- High brightness tilt-adjustable screen
- two mini XLR audio inputs
- compatible with the Pro EVF and battery grip attachments
- Sony style NP-F 570 battery slot
Additionally, Blackmagic announced a new feature available via a firmware update. Gyroscopic data from the camera can now be recorded in the BRAW file and used to stabilize footage in Resolve. The firmware update is available now and updates to Resolve are expected very soon.
This gryo stabilization feature is available even in older models of the Pocket Cinema cameras since they all have gyro hardware built in.
